The Alaska Strategic Performance Unit (SPU) Wellwork Analyst provides oversight for wellwork analysis and reporting in the Alaska SPU. This position involves analysis of wellwork results using the Wellwork Evaluation Tracking System (WETS) and AWGRS data management systems for the Alaska SPU. This position resides within the Greater Prudhoe Bay asset which has a $350mm wellwork program for 2008. This wellwork program is comprised of approximately 60 rig workovers and more than 375 non-rig jobs involving coil tubing units, slickline and e-line in the major asset areas that comprise Greater Prudhoe Bay (GPB). This position is also responsible for analysis of wellwork data for the operated and non-operated assets within the Alaska Consolidated Team (ACT). The Alaska SPU Wellwork Analyst is the focal point for analysis and information regarding the program potential, execution and performance. The reporting responsibilities include Performance Information (PI) data, Well Management Network and cost and production tracking with input to the Long Term Plan (LTP) and annual business plan. This position also provides WETS tracking support for the entire Alaska SPU.
The GPB Business Unit portfolio includes two major fields located along the north slope of Alaska in North America (including Prudhoe Bay and Greater Pt. McIntyre) and multiple new satellite field developments, all of which are operated by BP. The associated fields produce 400,000 bbls of oil per day and employ an annual capital budget of more than $800 million, which includes drilling of 75 wells per year and an active well intervention program. The Prudhoe Bay field currently has 1000 active wells that produce 8 bscf of gas in addition to the 400,000 bbl oil per day. Prudhoe has recovered 11 billion bbls of oil and has c. 3 billion bbls remaining. Infill drilling, well intervention and EOR techniques continue to push the boundaries on the ultimate recovery. The Prudhoe reservoir has several recovery mechanisms present: gravity drainage, vaporization via gas injection, and water / miscible gas floods, along with pilot projects currently ongoing to test new ideas for EOR.
The Alaska SPU Wellwork Analyst works closely with personnel from the entire Alaska SPU.
